On 75th Independence Day, Indian Idol declared its winner for the 12th season, Pawandeep Rajan, took home the trophy. He received maximum votes thus bagging the winning spot, followed by female contestants Arunita Kanjilal and Sayli Kamble being the runner-up. However, Pawandeep Rajan’s victory has left Arunita Kanjilal’s fans upset. Fans of the runner-up feel the show was scripted and Arunita was a deserving candidate. Netizens were left thinking if ever a female contestant would win the show or is it impossible.

A user wrote, “How didn't #ArunitaKanjilal win the trophy now it'll be impossible for a girl to ever win it...#IndianIdol12 #IndianIdolGreatestFinaleEver #IndianIdol2021” Another annoyed user in his Tweet asked if Pawandeep is 10% as good as Arunita when it comes to singing. The tweet read, “This guy is not even 10% as good as #ArunitaKanjilal in singing!” Followed by some people calling the show scripted, others were seen clearly mentioning Arunita being the real winner irrespective of the makers crowning Pawandeep as the winner of this 12th season.

Netizens even doubted the makers as they did not declare the number of votes received by the contestants. A user wrote, “Yes. I did watch! Arunita was the most gorgeous with the best voice. As reported in ETimes, winner Pawandeep said, “Yes, my family was here. A few of my friends also visited and they all were happy and excited. My mom was crying as I lifted the trophy. I am from Uttarakhand and currently the situation is not right there so I would like to do something.
